Dimensional Gate

Dimensional Gate
Ritual Rank 13 [Portative]
Prerequisites: Eldritch Rank 10, Teleportation Field as a Mastered Power
Potency: 65
Components: 20 drops Magic Essence, Blood of a Phase creature [Very Rare, Value: 50,000 gp], and two stone arches engraved with Arcane runes, inlaid with mithral [Rare, Value: 20,000gp]
Focus: Gate Key (see text)
Prep Time: 6 days per Gate
Cast Time: 1 hour per Gate
Duration: Permanent
Effect: You must mix liquid mithral with the Magic Essence before tempering it in the blood of a Phase creature. The mithral is then inlaid into the arcane runes within each arch, also known as gates, which takes approximately 6 days each. Once the gates are prepared, you spend an hour incanting before each gate while holding the gate key (which must also be bathed in Magic Essence). The incantations must be completed in near perfect succession (requiring you to travel between gates within a few minutes at the most).

Once the final incantation is completed, a permanent connection will be established between the two arches, known as gates. Activating and Deactivating the gates requires a password to be spoken with the Gate Key in hand (which you determine at the time of casting). Once Activated, a creature can move through either gate and exit out the opposite gate instantaneously. An activated Gate must be deactivated with the Gate Key, or the gate will remain open indefinitely.

The Gate Key can be any hand-held item of your choice, but is typically a mundane and unassuming object such as a locket, ceramic cup, or old shoe. Though the Gate Key will detect as magical once this ritual is completed, it will appear perfectly mundane when inspected visually. Casters typically use magical masking abilities to further disguise their Gate Keys (such as Mask Magical Aura and similar abilities).

The two arches must be on the same plane, or this ritual fails (see Interdimensional Gate to create gates across planes). The entire process from mithral casting, inlaying, and final incantations must be completed within 14 days or this ritual fails. The arches are permanent structures and cannot be moved, though it is possible for the building or structure an arch resides in to move. If this occurs and one gate is ever transported to another plane, the protection between them is immediately severed.
