Glyph of Warding
Glyph of Warding
Prerequisites: Divine Rank 3, Warding Discipline
Potency: 20
Components: Diamond Dust [Common, Value: 200 gp]
Cost: 2 Stamina Allocation
Cast Time: 1 phase
Duration: Until Discharged, Dismissed or Dispelled
Range: Touch
Aura: Masked [DC 20] (Warding)
Target: Object touched or Area up to 10 sq. ft. per Rank
Effect: Using the Diamond Dust, you lay out an elaborate symbol upon the object you wish to ward and begin to chant. As you complete the chant, the dust seeps into the object, leaving the invisible ward behind. The ward may be placed on any object, opening, area, or entryway. If anyone interacts with (i.e. touches, opens, passes over, or passes through) the warded object or area, without speaking the password you designate at casting, the glyph activates. Alternatively (or additionally), the ward can be set to specific characteristics such as physical characteristics and race, alignment, or deity. When a creature triggers the ward, make the following attack:
Trigger: A creature opens a warded object or passes through/over the warded area.
Target: All creatures within area or within 5 ft of the object
Attack: +10 vs. Reflex
Hit: 3d8 Damage (of a type chosen when you complete the ritual: caustic, cold, fire, lightning or sonic)
Miss: Half damage.
The Glyph reacts to invisible creatures and can be fooled only by magical forms of disguise. Multiple Glyphs of Warding cannot be placed on the same object or area.
The Glyph may be detected with a successful Investigate check [DC 20] or via an ability to detect masked magical auras (such as Reveal Magic). Once detected, the Glyph may be removed magically or disarmed with a Trapsmith or Thievery check [DC 25]. If an attempt is made to remove the Glyph, and it fails, the glyph activates.
