Private Sanctum

Effect: While chanting, you stuff the cotton and sprinkle onyx dust into the lead box. Upon completion of the ritual, you create an area of complete privacy. Creatures on the outside of the area cannot see or hear anything coming from inside the area, viewing only a thick black fog. The area also blocks magical forms of detection and surveillance, such as Detect Thoughts, Magic Sight, and abilities with the Scry keyword.

Creatures within the area can see and hear outside the area as normal. They can magically send and receive messages into and out of the area via a Message Cantrip, Whispering Wind, Sending Ritual, or similar effect. Additionally they can communicate telepathically with creatures outside the area with whom they are connected.

Though the ritual prevents creatures from seeing and hearing from outside the area, it does not provide any physical barrier to prevent them from entering. Once a creature enters the area, it can see and hear normally (both inside and outside the area).

This ritual blocks Line of Perception for visual and auditory senses, but does not block Line of Effect.
