Undead Paladin

Sometimes a Paladin's vow and belief are so strong that they just can't accept their own death. Whatever god they worshipped in life is now gone, and has been replaced with a powerful Entity of Death. The paladin may not even realize that anything is different. It all depends on the intentions of their new patron.

Undead Paladin

The Paladin’s holy powers become a deathly version of their original purpose. The Paladin may retain his alignment, or may turn towards darker means. Regardless he is no longer part of the natural order of things, and must watch that the creatures from beyond do not come for his soul.

  • Paladin Class
  • Undead
  • A Dark Pact with a powerful Patron of Death (Such as a God, Demigod, or even Death itself)
  • Cost: 1 Destiny Point.

Features

♦ Divine Shift
The Paladin's requirement of Lawful Good alignment is removed and you loose access to the Holy Discipline and Order Disciplines. Any powers or abilities from a discipline you loose access to may be switched out for powers of equivalent Caliber and Rank.

Choose one of the following options:

  • Paladin of the Peaceful Grave: Your alignment changes to Neutral Good and you retain the Holy Discipline.
  • Paladin of the Guarded Tomb: Your alignment chances to Lawful Neutral and you retain the Order Discipline.
  • Paladin of the Burning Pyre: Your alignment chances to Chaotic Neutral and you gain access to the Anarchy Discipline.
  • Paladin of the Rotting Flesh: Your alignment chances to Neutral Evil and you gain access to the Unholy Discipline.
♦ Deathly Hands
Your Lay on Hands ability may now target undead creatures. You cannot use the Vanquish Undead augment.
♦ Smite Any Alignment
Your Smite Evil ability can now apply to targets of any alignment. Additionally, your smite power deals Necrotic Damage instead of Holy Damage.
♦ Sense Alignment
You loose access to the Sense Evil ability and gain access to the Sense Alignment ability:

Cost: 2 Resolve
Requirement: You must have Lifesense
Duration: 1 Moment or until dismissed, dispelled, or disrupted.
Range: 60ft
Effect: No longer a member of the living, you have special insight when it comes to divine intention. Choose an alignment aura. Your Lifesense changes to no longer detect life force, instead detecting the chosen alignment auras in range. The alignment auras function like life force, illuminating the area around them like light sources based on their strength. This allows you to automatically determine the intensity of an aura you can view directly.
Master Augment, Wider Sense
[Divine Rank 4, Stackable]
Stacking [Divine Rank 4, 5, 6, etc.]: This augment may be applied multiple times and is only limited by your Divine Rank.
Effect: Increase the range by 10ft.
Master Augment, Piercing Sense

Effect: You also automatically sense any Masked auras with a DC of 30 or less.
♦ Turning
You gain the Rebuke Undead ability and lose access to the Turn Undead ability. At 4th level, lose access to the Turn Hellspawn ability and instead gain the Turn Planar Creature ability:

Requirement: You must be wielding a Divine Symbol
Effect: You invoke the powers of death to drive away Planar Creatures. Make an attack:
Range: 10ft per Divine Rank
Target: Up to three Immortal Extraplanar creatures that are not on their home plane within range.
Attack: Devotion vs. Will
Hit: 2d8 + Divine Might Annihilation damage and the target Flees [5 x ChaP]ft. If the target's Mental Rank is strictly less than your Divine Rank, the target does not flee and is instead Paralyzed [SE, ST 4d10 vs CHA].
Special: You may target an extraplanar creature that is possessing another creature. If you hit the target, it is ejected and is no longer possessing the creature.
Master Augment, Vanquish Planar Creature

Requirement: The target must be Paralyzed, resulting from a previous use of Turn Planar Creature.
Cost: 2 Resolve
Effect: If the target's Mental Rank is equal to or less than your [Divine Rank - 4], the target is Banished back to its home plane on a hit.
Augment, Stronger Turn

Stacking [Divine 6, 8, 10, etc]: This augment may be applied multiple times and is limited by your divine rank.
Effect: Increase the damage dealt by 1d8.
Augment, Greater Turn
[Divine Rank 6, Stacking]
Stacking [Divine 6, 8, 10, etc]: This augment may be applied multiple times and is limited by your divine rank.
Cost: 1 Resolve
Effect: You may affect an additional target.
Master Augment, Tenacious Turn

Effect: Increase the saving throw by one die [STP 1d10].
