Pseudodragon

Pseudodragon
Level 2 (+2)
"I am Bloodfang! Feared dragonlord of the flaming tempest! I have taken this form to send you on a great quest to gather a quality selection of meats and cheeses for my nest...hey! Are you listening?!"
——Sensgro the Pseudodragon, attempting to trick a human adventurer
Quite possibly the smallest member of the Dragon family, a Pseudodragon is about 1 foot long with a 2-foot-long tail, and weighs from 7 to 10 lbs. It looks much like a miniature version of a red dragon with a pointed tail, although its scales have a slight purplish hue. They are intelligent, but cannot communicate verbally, instead relying on telepathy. If they choose not to communicate this way, they produce noises similar to that of a house cat, with purrs, growls, and hisses to denote their feelings on a subject. Most Pseudodragons are good-natured and playful, but wary of humanoids upon initially meeting them. Once trust is gained, however, they become loyal companions and valuable allies, their small stature and cunning allowing them to assist adventurers in ways that more natural animals cannot. When a Pseudodragon attacks, it prefers to glide by an enemy and bite at it, or sting it with its tail, slowly wearing them down while it stays out of harm’s way.
