A squid of incredible size, they can reach just past 40 feet in length, from mantle to tentacle, and weigh from 400 to 500 lbs. They have two long, larger tentacles and 8 somewhat smaller ones. They are more commonly seen near the bottom of the ocean, deep sea creatures that prefer to hunt larger prey that has similarly adapted to the incredible pressure of the ocean floor. When food sources become scarce, these primal squid will sometimes make their way to lesser depths, even potentially attacking unwary creatures on the surface of the ocean if necessary.
