These humanoids are reptilian in nature, having thick, wiry muscles covered in grey-brown scales that serve as armor. They are malicious, mean spirited hunters, cunning and tough with an unpleasant, overwhelming natural odor . While not particularly intelligent, their predatory ruthlessness serves them well. They favor crude weapons that can be fashioned with little effort, such as a club or javelin. In combat they assault enemies wildly, brutalizing them with their weapons, claws, and bite. Their preferred tactic is to use their natural camouflaging ability to blend into a cave or similarly rocky environment, wait for prey to pass by, and then launch themselves at their target with abandon. A typical Troglodyte stands about 5 ½ feet tall and weighs about 165 lbs.
