Structures

Structures are objects of considerable size, such as buildings, bridges, walls, and castles. They range in size from tents and huts to massive palaces. In general, if an object is large enough for a creature to live inside, it is considered a structure. Vehicles such as carts, ships, and war machines are also classified as structures.

Structures larger than 400 sq. ft (equivalent to a 20ft by 20ft area) are divided into multiple sections, with each section considered independently. However, the collapse of specific sections may lead to the collapse of others, depending on the layout and construction of the structure.

Most structures, such as castles, taverns, homes, and other buildings, are considered hollow structures; that is, they are comprised of multiple rooms separated by thin walls supporting a roof. A particularly dense or solid structure may be broken into layers, with each layer counting as a separate section and potentially being a Protective Structure).

Defenses

Each structure has a Durability Score that reflects its resistance to damage based on its materials and construction. The chosen materials also determine the structure's propertied, such as vulnerability or resistance to certain types of damage, or if the structure is particularly flammable.

Damaging Structures

Structures are only damaged by abilities that have a Demolition Score. As structures are damaged they gain Ruin which reflects their current level of integrity. Refer to Structural Damage for more information.

Living Structures

Some creatures are so massive that they are considered structures. These creatures are effectively immune to normal attacks that do not have a demolition score. Examples include the World Serpent, Zaratan, Ancient Treant, Living Wall, and Living Mountain.
