Characteristics
Dire Vipers, like most snakes, tend to chase after smaller prey, but are not afraid to attack a human-sized creature if they get hungry enough. The Viper injects a lethal, energy draining toxin into it's victims so that it might easily ingest them later. The Dire Viper acts much like a normal viper does in all other regards.
History
Dire Vipers were first found in southern jungles far from civilization, and since then have been used as a sort of spiritual focus for practitioners of primitive Eldritch and Divine Arts, as well as pets, traps and even exterminators.
Culture
The Dire Viper gives birth to at most 3 children at a time, but does so once every couple years. It spawns them in multiple locations and does not revisit once it has successfully hidden the eggs. Dire Vipers are not communal creatures, they are extremely territorial and will eat their own children if they venture into their homes.
