Moving Terrain
Moving Terrain is terrain that transports you from one location to another. Stepping onto or off of Moving Terrain (when not moving at the same speed as the Terrain) often requires a Balance check to keep your footing. A check is also required any time that the direction of movement changes or the speed of the movement changes (if sudden and drastic). If you fail the Balance check, you fall Prone, potentially falling off the Moving Terrain. You must also succeed the Balance check to Stand, Attack, or take similar physical actions while in Moving Terrain (falling prone or staying prone if you fail). Additionally, Tumble checks suffer a -4 penalty in Moving Terrain.
Once you enter Moving Terrain, you will be transported at the speed and in the direction of the moving terrain. The difficulty of the Balance check is dependent on the speed of the moving terrain. If you are entering or exiting the terrain, you can reduce the difficulty by 1 if you are moving at the same speed as the terrain when you enter. If the moving terrain is particularly unsteady, such as a log floating down a river, the difficulty is increased by 1. Changes in speed or direction will increase the difficulty by 1 (base DC dependent on original speed).
