Axe of the King

Description

This regal Great Axe is gilded in gold on one side of the blade with a crown and gilded in silver on the other side with a scepter. The handle is wrapped in fine silks of deep blues and purples that never stain, durable as leather. At first glance, it would appear to be a well crafted ornamental piece, but one who grabs it will quickly learn of the weapons true nature, as will all who view and listen to the wielder.

Lore

There have been many kings, emperors and lords throughout history, some worthy of the title, others not. Many scholars suspect that the latter may have at times been in possession of an item such as the Axe of the King. Some even believe that the Axe changes its form to that of another weapon to better suit a would be ruler. Once the item is lost to a wielder, they might find that their value to the people who live under them wains more with each passing day. In the hands of an already capable leader, this weapon could help them accomplish feats of wisdom and guidance that could write them into legend, or even quite possibly usher in a golden age of prosperity for their people.
