Fog and Mist

Fog and mist are types of weather arising from suspended water droplets, each with its unique formation process. Fog occurs when a dense layer of low-lying clouds permeates the terrestrial landscape, a common occurrence in coastal or mountainous areas. Conversely, mist results from localized temperature fluctuations in humid environments or specific water formations, such as waterfalls or boiling geysers.

Both fog and mist significantly impact visibility, rendering surroundings difficult to discern. Their presence offers a degree of concealment, often leading to disorientation and uncertainty. Despite their obstructive nature, they add an ethereal, enigmatic aura to the environment, blurring shapes and distances and wrapping the world in a shroud of silent mystery.

Both mist and fog create a Fog Hazard. Foggy weather can make Navigating difficult, and increases the Skill Difficulties of Hunting and Survival checks by 1 and Orienteering checks by 2.

Mist

Natural Mist usually creates a Light Fog Hazard. Rarely, it can be thicker creating a Heavy Fog hazard.

Fog

While usually light, natural fog can become quite thick creating any thing from a Light Fog Hazard to a Dense Fog Hazard. Extremely thick Fog can make Navigating even more difficult, and increases the Skill Difficulties of Hunting and Survival checks by 2 and Orienteering checks by 3.

Ground Fog

Sometimes a thick fog or mist hugs the floor, concealing the ground. This is treated as a low-lying Heavy Fog Hazard.
