A Dire Ape resembles its smaller cousins; however, it stands at about 9 feet tall and can weigh just over 1,000 lbs. These primal variants of anthropoid primates are far more aggressive than a normal ape, with sharp claws and heavy muscle that is used for battering intruders in their territory. Despite their offensive instincts, they are mostly Frugivores, preferring fruit to other types of vegetables, but they will eat roots, legumes, and other plant matter if necessary. They will occasionally eat a small amount of meat, but usually only if no other food is available. Dire Apes mostly inhabit jungles and thick forests, living in small clans with other Dire Apes.
