Wyvern

Wyvern
Level 9 (+5)
"Clackjaw the Bastard is the only of his litter born that way. It’s no surprise that after being abandoned by his mother he grew to be an ornery predator in these lands. For the last few years, our village has not had a single outdoor festival that has lasted for more than 6 hours."
——Barnaby Malliwort, Halfling Mayor of Scuttlebrook
Wyvern’s, sometimes confused for true dragons, are an offshoot of the powerful species. They have the bodies and heads of dragons, with two muscular legs, a pair of reptilian wings and a long, wicked tail with a poisonous stinger at the end that drips dangerous venom. Their bodies are covered in dirty brown, mottled scales. With a wingspan of almost 20 feet, and a body nearly 20 feet long, a typical Wyvern weighs nearly 7,000 lbs. Curiously, they have no arms, relying instead on their dangerous bite and stinger to capture prey or protect their territory. They are also feral, and unlike dragons are not very intelligent, although they are capable of speech. Still, they are prone to act according to their more animal nature, and this trait is what sets them apart from true dragons. They are short-sighted, foul tempered and impulsive, preferring to address all enemies with a hiss and snap of their powerful jaws.
