Pit Trap, Simple

Simple Pit Trap
Trap [Rank 1]
Description: This simple pit trap consists of a hole dug in the ground and covered with a thin layer of brush or foliage. The pit can be any size, but the larger the opening, the larger the structure must be to hold up the cover.
Detect
Awareness DC: 20
Spot DC: 15
Detecting the Trap: There seems to be a disturbance in the ground cover ahead. It's a bit thicker than normal.
Investigate DC: 10
Investigating the Area: There seems to be a pit dug beneath the foliage. If anything steps into the area it will fall through.
Disarm
Disarm DC: NA.
Disarming the Trap: Since the trap is not mechanical, it cannot be disarmed, but it can easily be bypassed by moving around it, jumping over it, or placing something sturdy across the gap.
Trigger
Triggering the Trap: If more than 5 lbs is placed upon the covering, it collapses. All creatures within the area fall.
Effect: All creatures suffer Falling Damage based on the depth of the pit (1d10+5 Bludgeoning damage per 10 ft) and must make a Resilience [DC 15] check or suffer an Injury. The walls of the pit are relatively rough, and after recovering from the fall creatures can escape with a Climb check [DC 10].
Variations: If the pit has spikes at the bottom, the damage type changes to Piercing damage. Additionally, the spikes maybe coated with any Poison of choice, dealing an additional effect based on the poison.
