"I have often been called a mage of little subtlety, which would seem to imply that subtlety is a trait expected of practitioners of the arcane arts. I find this laughable, for every great wizard, no matter how powerful or learned they become, will never escape the irresistible urge to blow things up with the power of the elements."
——Meldrin Morasse, the Red Mage

Description

This magnificent quarterstaff is roughly 6 feet in length and is inlaid with copper, silver, gold, platinum and mithral veins running along its length in an intricate pattern that only an Eldritch Magic user can understand. This pattern is in fact disguised writing which imparts its abilities to the wielder. The staff itself appears to be made of an unnaturally vibrant bright red oak secured with ornate, thin golden bands every foot of length. The veins of metal within the oak run under the bands and to the top of the shaft, which houses a golden sphere. The sphere itself is plain in detail, but it is surrounded by floating crystals moving in a constant, randomized swirling pattern. These crystals glow with different hues and intensity to match the energy of spells being channeled through the staff. The staff is obviously magical and exudes an overwhelming aura when detection abilities are used on it.

Lore

Only a handful of these magical staves are known to have existed, and only one owner is known to be living. Most Wizards and Sorcerers dream of gaining possession of such an item, but even the loftiest dreamers are wary of its power. Such an item has a history of attracting unwanted attention, and previous owners all met terrible or unknown fates at the hands of denizens that would desire a Staff of Might for themselves.
