Sorrow

Sorrow
Level 17 (+7)
"It broke us all. Some died, a couple managed to escape. The rest of them ...we just left them there, crying to themselves softly as that mass of darkness enfolded them. We couldn’t stop it, we didn’t even want to try ...we just stumbled away until we could breathe again. So that’s why I’m always at this tavern, drinking away my senses ...you know, since you asked."
——Pastule Venecci, retired Bard
A sorrow is an unnatural creation, a collection of the tormented souls of those who died under heartbreaking circumstances. Whether it was betrayal, murder, crippling fear, or overwhelming depression that drove them to an early grave is dependent on each part of the amalgamation. The Sorrow looks to be a semisolid combination of each spirit bound together in ghostly chains, as if squeezed to the breaking point. Their faces are permanently twisted in an exaggerated expression of maddening grief, and they issue forth the raw pain of their combined memories in a variety of ways to assault mortals. A Sorrow can typically be heard from far away as it approaches, its perpetual wail driving the fighting spirit from mortals who here it. To touch or be targeted by a Sorrow is to feel all its sadness in one keen, devastating moment, the effects of which can drive even the noblest Paladin to their knees.
