Fire Giant
Fire Giant Characteristics
Fire Giants are known for being the most war-centric of giant kind, and while not the largest of their cousins, they are certainly the meanest. Fire Giant skin color ranges from dark red to black, with bright orange hair, beards (for males), and red eyes. A typical adult male weighs between 6500-7500 pounds and stands at roughly 12 feet tall. Females are slightly smaller and lighter. They tend to live from 300 to 400 years. Either by their nature or just harsh lifestyle, Fire Giants are heavily muscled, and generate a deep inner heat that most can channel into their attacks. Due to their affinity for flame, these giants are immune to Fire damage, but vulnerable to Cold damage.
History
Known for inflicting war upon their neighbors many times over the past, Fire Giants have a reputation for being extremely brutal warriors, often attacking other creatures on sight. Over the years, these conquerors have waged campaigns against any other race that treads too close to their domain, including other giants. Though preferring to fight by themselves, they tend to seek out alliances with other evil races should their own numbers prove insufficient. Fire Giants, while being cruel and hateful, also have a reputation for honoring their word, usually to the detriment of those who cross them.
Culture
Fire Giant society in almost all cases is militaristic and hierarchical, with each new child indoctrinated into their communal army as soon as it can walk. They tend to take over large mountain ranges near active volcanoes, smoldering tar pits, and other constant heat sources. This is not done only for comfort, but also for having access to materials for forging weapons and armor that they can use in their campaigns. To some cultures, Fire Giant society might be seen more as a bootcamp than as a home for its peoples. Like many others of their kind, Fire Giants respect strength over other attributes, and their leadership must always be the strongest of their kind. A leader who falters in their role will soon find themselves challenged to open combat by a younger Fire Giant with dreams of ascension. For this reason, a strict chain of command is maintained among them that strongly discourages betrayal, with excessive disciplinary action. That being said, if a challenge is issued in accordance with their laws, punishment is very rarely inflicted. Mostly because a failed attempt at overthrowing the King ends in death at the hands of the King himself.
