Warbringer Characteristics

Warbringers are sentient constructs given the gift of artificial life by War, an aspect of the Apocalypse. Warbringers are comprised of a living body of gears, metal and stone, these components able to meld and shift unnaturally with their movements as if they were living skin. These humanoid machines are created with the implements of war gifted to them, equipped with powerful weapons that they wield as natural extensions of their bodies. As living aspects of war, they are designed with several powerful abilities and functions, meant solely for the destruction of enemies. Should one be destroyed, its internal core will overheat, causing it to explode upon any enemies unfortunate enough to be nearby.

While technically having souls, Warbringers are still constructs, unfeeling and uncaring, only existing to perpetuate War’s grand design.

History

The existence of Warbringers are largely unknown to the mortal races, as War does not actively participate in the evolution of humanoids unless called upon by a higher power. As such, Warbringers have mostly been found by other extraordinarily powerful beings to be guarding outposts important to War’s design, and on occasion when summoned due to the meddling of people reaching too far into the realms of the immortals. The only times that history has managed to record the appearance of a Warbringer was shortly after the devastation it had left in its wake had settled down. The appearance of the creature itself was unrecorded, as they do not leave witnesses behind, but studious scholars have, over the centuries, managed to piece together the mysterious and seemingly random acts of destruction brought by Warbringers, realizing that these were more than just the machinations of an earthly warlord or conqueror.

Culture

Warbringers do not have culture, they have been created to serve as soldiers in the coming Apocalypse, and while they can think, collaborate with other Warbringers, and make strategic choices on their own, they were not created with any capacity for other types of social interaction, emotion, personal desire, or ambition. They are simply tools of destruction given living form to better assist and understand their directives.
